As the days dwindle down to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, eager fans wait expectantly. There will be villains from other dimensions who return to cause havoc, making this film the most ambitious in the multiverse.

What To Know Before Watching No Way Home

Nevertheless, the multiverse plot is just the beginning. There’s a lot to dissect in this movie, so before it comes out on December 17, fans should revisit every Spider-Man movie adaptation to brush up on the plot.

Spending the time to read over each story again is an involved process. There are a lot of admirers that don’t have time to read the whole thing, so I’ll just give them the highlights.

What to Know Before Watching no Way Home

The Hidden Identity of Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Is Revealed

In the Far From Home mid-credit scene, we learn that Peter Parker was falsely accused of killing Mysterio and that J.K. Simmons is resuming his role as J. Jonah Jameson. Sadly, that wasn’t the end of the terrible news.

Jameson’s betrayal of Spider-identity Man’s by revealing that Peter Parker was actually hiding behind the mask was devastating. The exposition of No Way Home begins right here, with Peter experiencing the repercussions.

In addition, it will spur Peter to seek Doctor Strange’s assistance, opening the floodgates to the multiverse’s release.

We Can Now Confirm That Peter Parker And MJ Are Dating

Also, Peter and MJ’s relationship status as a couple is a major takeaway from Far From Home. It appears that their romantic relationship has flourished in spite of the widespread attention given to his secret identity as Spider-Man.

His feelings for MJ are shown in the previews to be a driving force in his quest to regain his anonymity. The danger that Peter’s loved ones, especially his romantic interests, face as a result of his secret identity as Spider-Man is, nonetheless, a constant in every Spider-Man film.

Trailers for No Way Home show how seriously at risk MJ’s life is, just as they were for Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy.

The Evolution of the Multiverse Has Been Underway for a Time

The multiverse arc will be explored in No Way Home, but it has been in motion for some time thanks to hints in past MCU films. WandaVision focused on Wanda’s amazing powers and the possibility of multiple realities, while Loki explained the universe and set in motion the chain reaction that would eventually alter the timeline.

As a result, the multiverse will be represented in No Way Home. All these works will culminate in 2022 with Doctor Strange’s story in the Multiverse of Madness.

It’s bad enough that Wanda Maximoff is going to show up, but the fact that the multiverse is going to play a major role in the plot only adds to the impending doom.

Some Bad Guys Have Already Been Killed Off in Their Own Universes

Five villains from parallel dimensions make a repeat appearance in No Way Home. Although three of the five villains perished in the films, intriguing questions about the films’ overarching narratives remain unanswered due to the endings.

In their respective films, the Green Goblin was impaled by his glider, Doc Ock sacrificed himself, and Electro was defeated and killed. The fact that these three individuals (played by the same actors) are shown to still be alive in the promotional materials for No Way Home comes as a surprise.

Both Sandman (who ran away) and the Lizard (who went to jail) lived through the events, but their stories could wind up being different from the ones depicted in the films.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Peter Parker and Doctor Strange First Crossed Paths.

While both Peter Parker and Doctor Strange call New York City home, they didn’t officially meet until the fateful events of Avengers: Infinity War, where they faced off against Thanos.

Peter freed him after he was kidnapped by Ebony Maw, and the two of them joined forces to battle Thanos on Titan. The Snap claimed the lives of both of these characters. Their working relationship appears to have improved in the previews, but this is likely only temporary due to the release of the multiverse.

Having a disagreement on how to deal with the villains that are out to murder Spider-Man is not a good start for their budding friendship.

In Spite of His Status as the Ultimate Sorcerer, Doctor Strange is Also a Staunch Advocate of Nonviolence.

Doctor Strange’s talents as the Sorcerer Supreme should be familiar to fans. Given his proficiency in the occult, he is undeniably one of the MCU’s most potent characters. Even in battle against Thanos, he had one of the most memorable moments.

That he is a pacifist is another noteworthy information. This is understandable given his life’s work as a neurosurgeon rescuing lives. Although he committed murder in Doctor Strange, Strange ultimately chose a different choice when confronted with Dormammu, opting to negotiate a peace treaty rather than resort to violence.

The promos for No Way Home make light of his pacifist beliefs. An argument with Peter, who thinks it’s unjustified, ensues when he insists that killing the villains is the only way to solve the problem.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Only Peter Parker’s Aunt May is Aware of Peter Parker’s Secret Identity as Spider-Man.

Speculation amongst viewers that Aunt May might discover Peter’s secret identity as Spider-Man was widespread. In all previous adaptations, this has never occurred. The events of Far From Home showed that she not only accepted Peter as Spider-Man, but also encouraged him to use his powers for good.

Although sharing some similarities with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which also features a relationship between a version of Peter Parker and Aunt May, the two films are not connected in any way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Aunt May from the MCU looks to be the most involved with Spider-activities Man’s among the three incarnations. Insight on Aunt May’s involvement in providing assistance to her nephew is provided in the second trailer.

Venom And Eddie Brock, Both on the Run, Have Connections Across Dimensions.

Connections between Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films and The Amazing Spider-Man films appear to be present in No Way Home. Yet, that’s not the end of it. A few months ago, an unexpected sequence was unveiled in the middle of the credits for the movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

The revelation of Spider-actual Man’s identity was also witnessed by Venom and Eddie Brock, who were also taken to an alternate multiverse.

It would be strange if there was a mid-credit sequence suggesting the huge scope of things because Venom did not appear in No Way Home, however it has not been confirmed if the scene would have any significance in the movie.

Peter Parker, Played by Tom Holland, has not yet Killed Any Supervillains.

So far, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has avoided killing supervillains, with the exception of employing instant kill in a last-ditch effort during the fight of Endgame. So, he should only draw conclusions about true Spider-Man enemies based on his experiences.

When Quentin Beck was killed by the bots’ bullets, he was able to spare Vulture’s life in Homecoming. This shows his moral conviction that murder is always wrong, no matter how evil the perpetrator.

His thoughts appear to turn to Doctor Strange’s plot to kill the supervillains in the second trailer, which Peter views as immoral and attempts to thwart. He has vowed never to kill again, but that decision could come back to haunt him.
